Course Information

Miles 0-26.2
The race started after the sun was up so you could clearly see where you were heading. You start at Ford Wyoming Center on a plateau overlooking the town. After the start you complete a 2-mile loop twice with no shade; then you run a 2 mile dog leg out and back. At around the eight mile mark you descend back into Casper and proceed on cycling trails either next to or close to the river for the rest of the course – lots of pretty green spaces; however there is not a lot of shade on the route. There is a turn around at mile 19. Overall the race had more rolling hills than expected and the altitude played a little impact since you are above 5100 feet.

Final stats
The Race Finish was located at David Street Station Square which is a small public park located in Casper. The finish was completely open which was nice – only a small finisher shoot was segregated. Everything was close and easy to access. There was seating in shaded areas in the Square and there were restaurants and breweries in the surrounding area.

Overall Review
Overall the race was a small-sized race – around 100 people for the full marathon. The race proceeds to run through Casper on a combination of small roads and bicycle trails. The scenery is beautiful with overlooks, a river, and forest for most of the race. Most of the race is in the sun with little to no shade so if it’s sunny be prepared. Not much crowd support but the views make up for it. The race starts on a plateau and then descends to the town where it is relatively flat.
